Michelle has lived in the Inner West for eight years and is a proud local, proud to be running as a candidate for the Animal Justice Party in the seat of her own electorate Newtown.
Having had a passion for animal rights since her teenage years, Michelle has been a member of a number of animal rights and environmental organisations. Originally from the UK, she lived in an area which was well known for fox hunting and actively participated in campaigns to ban this cruel sport.
Michelle became an active member of the Animal Justice Party in 2017 so she could give the voiceless a voice on a political platform. She is currently the Regional Group Secretary for the Sydney East & Inner West Group and has been involved with organising many fundraisers and rallies.
Michelle has demonstrated leadership qualities in her roles in both corporate and public sectors. She was the Chair of a ‘Gender Diversity’ Committee, focussing on equality and pay parity. For many years Michelle was also the driving force in a company-wide “Empower Communities Day” initiative, the aim being to have as many colleagues as possible volunteer their time for a variety of charities.
In her spare time, she volunteers for animal rescue, homeless and youth charities. She is passionate, loyal and committed to the Animal Justice Party.
“I firmly believe that the Animal Justice Party is the only political party that lives by its values of Kindness, Equality, Rationality and Non-Violence. I want to be part of driving a change where animal welfare, climate change and the environmental issues take priority on the political agenda”.
