Every year, the fight for animals grows louder, in parliaments, in courts, on the streets, and in the hearts of more people than ever before. The 2026 AJP National Conference is where that fight sharpens.

We are bringing together some of the most powerful and informed voices in animal advocacy, across law, politics, science, welfare, and activism, for two days of knowledge, strategy, and collective purpose.

More details, including our full speaker lineup and schedule, are coming soon.

We asked one of our NSW members what keeps her coming back to the conference year after year. Carmen joined the AJP in 2012 after hearing about the event, and 14 years on, she's still buying her ticket every time.

❤️ Here's her story:

I joined the AJP in 2012 because the conference program looked so good.

Conference tickets were only available to AJP members, but it didn’t take me long to decide to sign up to the AJP and the conference.

At that time, I was studying animal law with Jed Goodfellow at Macquarie University. While that was an inspiring experience in itself, I had started to form the view that one of the most effective ways of improving the dire situation in which many animals struggle to survive was through changing the law via parliament and not just following it and testing it in the courts.

I had never joined a political party before the AJP because I was wary and disillusioned by most politicians across the spectrum.

Attending the AJP conference was a revelation. As well as being impressed by the line-up of speakers, including Emma Hurst, I was deeply touched by the friendliness and commitment of the other conference attendees. We respectfully exchanged ideas and opinions, and I learned that there is a thriving grassroots movement of people who genuinely care about animals, people and the planet.

When I learned about the AJP’s core values of Kindness, Equality, Rationality and Non-Violence in one of the conference workshops I thought “This is unlike any political party I have ever heard of. They put ethical values at the centre of their vision!”

14 years on, I have attended all of the Sydney in-person conferences and several of the interstate online offerings.

I’ve bought my 2026 ticket and am counting the days. I hope to see you there.

And did I mention that the vegan catering is consistently chef’s-kiss delicious?

We are thrilled to offer this conference both in person in Sydney and online, with different ticket prices.

🏢 In person:
For those of you who have been keen to reconnect in person, we will be overjoyed to see you at the University of Technology, Sydney, and we look forward to meeting friends, new and old.

💻 Online: For those who’d prefer to access the conference virtually, we’ll be broadcasting all sessions live and you’ll be able to take part in the Q&A sessions as well.

Don't worry, there will be plenty of opportunities to interact and socialise if you attend online. We’ll be running special interactive workshops where you’ll be able to see and hear your fellow online participants, and there’ll be social rooms where you can mingle (virtually) during the breaks!
