Ten Years On, Tell Your MP It’s Time to End Greyhound Racing in NSW

Email Your MP: I Support the Open Letter to End Greyhound Racing in NSW

Ten years ago, the NSW Government reversed its ban on greyhound racing and gave the industry “one final chance” to reform. That chance has failed.

  • Since July 2017, more than 600 greyhounds have died on NSW tracks and more than 25,000 have been injured.*
  • 5,796 rule breaches have been recorded, including offences involving drugging and animal cruelty, while $207 million in taxpayer funding has propped up the industry.*

Our MP Emma Hurst and the Animal Justice Party NSW have joined a wide range of elected representatives and animal protection organisations in supporting an Open Letter to Premier Chris Minns and the NSW Parliament. The letter calls on the NSW Parliament to commit to a planned phase-out of greyhound racing and end further public funding of the industry.

Wentworth Park’s final race meeting is on 16 October, yet $10 million in public funding has been committed to move greyhound racing to other tracks. By sending a message to your local MP, you can show that you personally support the Open Letter and want greyhound racing to end across NSW, not simply move somewhere else.

Please note: This action is only available to NSW residents, as messages are sent to your local NSW MP.
