Victoria Davies for Cessnock CouncilAnimal Justice Party - Advocating for Animals, Nature, and Our Community

My name is Victoria Davies, and I’ve proudly called the Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA) home for over 45 years. I raised my children in the Cessnock community and live here with my husband providing sanctuary to a variety of rescue animals. I’m deeply invested in the well-being of our community, our environment, and the animals we share it with. As a registered nurse, I’ve spent my career caring for people in their most challenging moments, currently serving our Cessnock community with urgent health needs. Now, I want to bring that same dedication to serving the people, animals, and environment of Cessnock as your Council representative.

It’s time animal, nature and our community were on the agenda at Cessnock Council! I need your help. Together we can make a real difference for the residents and animals of Cessnock. There are a range of roles and tasks, something to suit everyone, and every little bit will make a significant difference.

I would love to hear from you and be most grateful for any help you may be able to offer.

I’m running for Cessnock Council because I believe in creating a community where people, animals, and nature all thrive together. Animals can’t speak up for themselves, so it’s our responsibility to ensure their protection and well-being. I’m committed to advocating for sustainable development, protecting our natural environment, and making Cessnock a great place to live for everyone.

As a member of the Animal Justice Party, I’m dedicated to ensuring that our local government operates with kindness, responsibility, and respect for all living beings. Whether it’s safeguarding wildlife habitats, improving household waste management, or ensuring residents' concerns are addressed, I’m ready to work for you.

What I Will Do for Cessnock: If elected, I will focus on these key areas:

  • Saying NO to Rate Rises: I will oppose unnecessary rate increases, ensuring that your money is spent wisely and efficiently.
  • Protecting Wildlife and Habitats: I will work to ensure that all new developments in Cessnock prioritise the protection of wildlife habitats. I will also advocate for the creation of green spaces and community gardens that enhance well-being and foster community connections.
  • Enhancing Ranger Services: I will advocate for expanded Ranger services, particularly after hours, to ensure that animal welfare issues are promptly addressed in our community.
  • Addressing Household Waste Management and Illegal Dumping: I will advocate for better waste management systems and stronger measures to combat illegal dumping. A clean environment is essential for a healthy community.
  • Tackling Backyard Breeding: Our pounds and rescues are full of animals in need of homes. I will support community education programs to address backyard breeding and promote responsible pet ownership.
  • Funding Responsible Pet Ownership Programs: I will ensure that the council funds community education programs for responsible pet ownership and provides subsidies for desexing, vaccination, and micro-chipping to reduce the number of animals in shelters and promote the health and well-being of pets in our community.
Promoting Healthy Lifestyles: I will work to develop community programs focused on healthy living, including education and activities that encourage fitness, nutrition, and overall well-being.
Listening to the Community: I will make sure that residents’ concerns are not only heard but also addressed, with clear feedback provided on the actions taken. I know it can be frustrating dealing with various community agencies and services, so I will be available to assist in directing your concerns to the relevant areas, ensuring you get the help you need.
  • My Vision for Cessnock: I envision a Cessnock where people, animals, and nature coexist peacefully, and where our community spaces are vibrant and welcoming. I want to see a town where development is sustainable, our streets are clean, and everyone—whether human or animal—is treated with respect and kindness. By working together, we can build a community that values compassion, sustainability, and inclusiveness.

A Vote for Me is a Vote for:

  • Justice for Animals: I will advocate for laws and policies that protect animals and ensure they are treated with respect.
  • Environmental Protection: I will push for sustainable development that balances growth with the need to preserve our natural resources and protect wildlife.

Community Well-being: I will work to create more community spaces, improve waste management, and ensure that all residents’ voices are heard and acted upon.

Help us make a difference for animals in the Federal Government elections

We need your help to have the biggest possible impact at the upcoming Federal Government election.

The Animal Justice Party cannot stand a compassionate Federal candidate without your support to pay for social media advertising, printing and campaigning. With enough money to raise awareness of AJP we have a real chance of having a Federal Candidate elected, to advocate for all animals at a National government level. The more funds we have, the bigger our impact for animals.

Can you chip in to cover some of the costs?
