The AJP is of the view that the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (POCTAA) is an inadequate, inappropriate and outdated legal framework to prevent cruelty to animals. The Act is fundamentally flawed as it relies on non-government, charitable organisations (currently the RSPCA and Animal Welfare League) to implement its provisions.
