Desmond Bellamy, State Treasurer

Desmond was asked to find a recent picture of himself, and instead produced for us a cutting from his first campaign in 1962 (below). Since then, he has worked in publishing, I.T., as a school Bursar, and has been a contract writer for PETA for many years.

Des has been an Animal Justice Party member since 2018, and has served as the Treasurer of the NSW Committee three times. He has also recently been awarded his PhD from the University of Melbourne for a thesis on cannibalism, which questions the anthropocentrism that finds the killing and eating of some animals inculpable, while killing and particularly eating others (e.g. Homo sapiens) is considered repulsive and reprehensible.
