How to vote Animal Justice Party in the Senate!
To make your vote count Vote 1 Animal Justice Party in box G then number 6 boxes if you are voting above the line or 12 boxes if you are voting below the line for individuals. We have produced a How to Vote card as a guide but you can choose your own preferences the most important thing for animals is for you to give us your number 1 vote.
Our 2025 Preference Recommendations
The Animal Justice Party takes preferences seriously. While we remain independent of all other parties, our preferences reflect a combination of our core values and strategic considerations.
For the Senate, we suggest preferencing: #1 AJP, #2 Fusion, #3 Greens #4 Socialist Alliance, #5 Legalise Cannabis, and #6 Labor.
These parties offered stronger commitments to animal welfare, environmental protection, and social justice than the others on the ballot. The Liberals and Nationals have promised to overturn the live sheep export ban - the Labor Party have promised to uphold the ban.
We do not “endorse” other parties, but we use our preferences to help deliver the best possible outcomes for animals, people, and the planet.
Voting in the Lower House
Australia uses a preferential voting system for federal elections. That means you must number every candidate on your ballot in the order you prefer them. Here's how it works:
-
Start with 1: Place a “1” next to Animal Justice Party candidate .
-
Number every box: Continue numbering the rest in your preferred order (2, 3, 4…).
-
If no one wins a majority: If no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes, the one with the least votes is eliminated, and their votes are passed to the next preferred candidate.
-
Your vote keeps counting: This process continues until one candidate gets over 50% of the vote.
💡 This means even if your top choice (obviously AJP!) doesn’t win, your vote can still make an impact through your preferences

Animals can’t afford your #2 vote.
Give them your #1 Vote. If we don’t get elected, your full vote goes to whoever you put at #2, then #3, and so on.
You will be sending a clear message to the major parties: NSW voters want an end to animal cruelty.
