End Animal Experimentation in NSW
Help Animal Justice Party MP Emma Hurst end animal experimentation in NSW.
Many Australians are horrified to learn that cruel animal experimentation is happening right now in our country, paid for in part through taxpayer dollars. Every year, millions of animals are subjected to painful, invasive procedures, often being born and dying in these research facilities.
Primates, cats, dogs, mice, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, ferrets, birds, fish, reptiles and native animals, all prisoners of one of Australia's most hidden industries.
Up to 96% of drugs tested ‘successfully’ on animals fail in human clinical trials, making animal experimentation not only cruel but unnecessary.
In 2022, Animal Justice Party MP Emma Hurst led a NSW Parliamentary Inquiry that exposed what has been happening behind closed doors, including animals subjected to procedures without anaesthesia and killed in the hundreds when no longer needed for research.
Animals are still suffering in facilities across NSW. Most animals used in experiments have no pathway to freedom. And there is still no commitment from the NSW Government to end this.
Humane alternatives to animal experimentation already exist and are producing more reliable, human-relevant results. These include:
- Computer modelling and algorithmic testing
- Virtual reality and physical simulators
- In-vitro and stem cell research
Stand with Emma Hurst MP in the fight to end animal experimentation in NSW.
✍️ By signing this petition, you are demanding the NSW Government urgently fund these alternatives and commit to ending the use of animals in experimentation here in NSW.
