GIVE WENTWORTH PARK BACK TO THE PEOPLE

BRING BACK THE BAN ON GREYHOUND RACING

Did you know that one of NSW’s deadliest greyhound racing tracks sits on public land!?

Sydney’s Wentworth Park is owned by the NSW Government, and as Crown Land it is supposed to be managed by the NSW Government in the public interest [Source].

This amazing, inner-city green space is currently leased to the cruel and violent greyhound racing industry. Thankfully, that lease expires in 2027, but the NSW Government is considering re-leasing Wentworth Park to the greyhound racing industry beyond 2027 despite previous promises to return that land to the public.

Renewing the lease to Greyhound Racing NSW would mean more animal suffering, more gambling harm, and less open space for our community. Here is why we must act:

  • In 2024, 128 greyhounds died on Australian tracks — 5 at Wentworth Park. Over 11,000 greyhounds were injured – 391 of those at Wentworth Park.

  • Community consultation shows overwhelming support for turning the site into a public park for sport, play, and connection.

The government needs to hear from people like you, right now. ⌛

It’s time to #BringBacktheBan. Give Wentworth Park back to the people.
