Leon is a passionate advocate for animals, he is a vegan with two rescue dogs, three rescue chickens and a love of wildlife. He lives in the Southern Highlands.
Leon has always been a volunteer stepping up to the plate taking on the leadership role in establishing the Southern Highlands Animal Justice Party Group and going on to start the Sydney Southwest regional group. He grew up in Adelaide and was involved with St John Ambulance as a volunteer for many years, it was here he would see the poor treatment of racehorses while working at the racetracks and went on to organise “Nup for the Cup” locally here in the Southern Highlands.
Leon supports numerous animal charities and wildlife rescue groups plus helps manage the local Southern Highlands Veggie Group which promotes a plant-based diet in this region.
He has been passionate about fighting against Coal Seam Gas and Coal Mining which can be detrimental to the environments for native wildlife, animals and humans alike. He is also involved with the Wingecarribee Aboriginal Reconciliation Group.
Leon has his own business, so he understands the needs of small business. He understands the issues of climate change, land clearing, social issues and the environment.
